Governor Soludo Calls for Unity, Active Participation Ahead of November Election as Non-Indigenes Endorse His Re-election Bid
Awka, Anambra State — As the November 8, 2025, governorship election draws near, Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has urged residents to embrace unity, inclusivity, and active participation in the democratic process.
The governor made the call during an endorsement rally organized by the Association of Non-Indigenes in Anambra State, held at the International Convention Centre (ICC), Awka, where thousands gathered to pledge their support for his re-election bid.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, Governor Soludo expressed deep appreciation for the show of solidarity from non-indigenes, describing their gesture as a reflection of Anambra’s inclusive spirit.
“I am deeply humbled by the outpouring of sentiments received here today,” the governor said. “Our national anthem says, ‘In brotherhood we stand’—and those are not mere words. We must live them out every day.”
Governor Soludo reiterated his belief in unity and shared responsibility, stressing that every Nigerian, regardless of state of origin, should see themselves as citizens first.
“Once you live in Anambra, you are from Anambra and treated equally,” he said, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to inclusivity.
The governor highlighted several policies that underscore this vision, including the recruitment of 8,115 teachers drawn from 18 different states within his first nine months in office.
“The best driver I’ve ever had is not from Anambra. The finest minds I’ve worked with are from across the country. We are one people,” Soludo added.
He also outlined key achievements of his administration, such as free education for pupils and students in government primary and secondary schools, and free antenatal and delivery services for pregnant women across the state.
“These services are for everybody, no matter where you come from,” the governor emphasized.
Looking ahead to the November election, Governor Soludo called on residents to take ownership of the democratic process by participating actively and ensuring their votes count.
“Wherever you live should be your home,” he said. “It is the duty of every citizen to vote, come November 8.”
He further praised the growing community involvement in his re-election campaign, noting that many citizens have voluntarily contributed to the cause.
“This is the first time in Anambra that the people themselves are taking ownership of the campaign—donating to support it. We are only at the introductory stage of developing Anambra, and we must continue together,” Soludo remarked.
Speakers from various ethnic groups in Anambra—including Gidado Sadiki of the Fulani community, Moses Agbom from Ebonyi State, and representatives from Akwa Ibom, Igala, and other groups—commended Governor Soludo for his inclusive leadership and people-centered policies.
They lauded his efforts to foster peace and unity among residents of diverse backgrounds, describing him as a leader who recognizes and values every community within the state.
Their endorsements, they said, reflect the confidence that non-indigenes have in his administration and its commitment to building an inclusive, progressive, and prosperous Anambra.
