Lagos Task Force Intensifies Road Sanitation Drive, Targets Illegal Operations Across Mainland

In a continued effort to restore order and ensure safety on Lagos roads, the Lagos State Task Force has intensified its clean-up operations across major highways and inner routes on the Lagos Mainland.

The comprehensive exercise, carried out on Monday, 27th October 2025, focused on curbing illegal activities including unauthorized motorcycle operations, street trading, and the use of public spaces for illegal transport and business activities.

The operation, which kicked off around 11:00 a.m., covered several key areas such as Ebute Metta, Gbagada-Oshodi Expressway, Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, Lagos-Badagry Expressway, and parts of Surulere Local Government and its LCDA.

Enforcement officers moved through major corridors including Apapa Road, Murtala Mohammed Way, Herbert Macaulay Road, Western Avenue, Iganmu Roundabout, Eric Moore Road, Bode Thomas, Babs Animashaun, Ogunlana Drive, Itire Link Bridge, and Gbagada-Anthony Expressway, among others.

During the exercise, a total of 64 commercial motorcycles operating illegally on restricted routes were seized as part of the state government’s efforts to maintain a clean, safe, and organized transportation environment.

Officials of the Task Force reiterated that the operation was in line with the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law of 2018, which prohibits commercial motorcycles from operating on certain highways and major roads.

According to the agency, the clean-up operation is part of a sustained campaign by the Lagos State Government to sanitize the metropolis, reduce road hazards, and promote orderly conduct among transport operators and street traders.

The Task Force further assured residents that the enforcement would be continuous and state-wide, urging members of the public to support the government’s drive for a cleaner, safer, and more livable Lagos.
