NDLEA Arrests Businessman Who Excreted 127 Cocaine Wraps at Kano Airport, Uncovers Meth in Ceramics and Other Drug Shipments Abroad

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 52-year-old businessman, Ejiofor Godwin Emeka, at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), Kano, after he excreted 127 wraps of cocaine he had ingested and concealed in his private part.
Emeka, who operates boutiques in Lagos and Onitsha, Anambra State, was apprehended on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, upon arrival from Bangkok, Thailand, via an Ethiopian Airlines flight (ET 941), following credible intelligence. A body scan revealed he had ingested illicit drugs and concealed some in his private part.
Upon search, 58 wraps of cocaine were recovered from his underwear. He was thereafter placed under excretion observation, during which he expelled 69 additional wraps in seven excretions, bringing the total to 127 wraps weighing 1.388 kilograms.
NDLEA Intercepts Multiple Drug Shipments Abroad
In a separate operation, NDLEA operatives at a courier company in Lagos intercepted three consignments of illicit drugs heading to the United Kingdom between Thursday, 9th, and Friday, 10th October.
- One shipment contained 1.74kg of methamphetamine hidden inside blocks of glass ceramics.
- Another held 114 grams of pentazocine and 168 grams of tramadol injections.
- The third contained 48 grams of tramadol capsules concealed in Vitamin C containers.
Similarly, attempts by other drug cartels to export narcotics to Turkey, Australia, the UAE, and South Africa were foiled. NDLEA officers uncovered:
- 2.6kg of skunk and 422 grams of tapentadol 250mg hidden in black soap tablets bound for Turkey;
- 169 grams of cocaine concealed in ladies’ handbags destined for Australia; and
- 568 grams of “Loud” cannabis packed inside herbal containers en route to the UAE.
Also, 27,510 pills of Rohypnol hidden in sachets of alcoholic drinks meant for South Africa were seized at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos. The NDLEA arrested a freight agent and a cab driver connected to the shipment, and a follow-up operation at Oyingbo Market led to the arrest of Samuel Omoruyi (46), alias “Yellow”, identified as the mastermind.
On the same day, an Italy-based businessman, Enehizena Augustine Uyimwen, was caught attempting to export 3,700 pills of Tramadol 225mg and 2,600 tablets of Tapentadol 200mg hidden in food items to Italy. He admitted to trafficking the drugs for €945.
Drug Raids Across States
In Edo State, NDLEA operatives raided the home of Emmanuel Sunday (33) at Ugbekpe Ekperi, Etsako Central LGA, recovering 47kg of cannabis (skunk).
In Osun State, two suspects — Nureni Ayobami Eleweodo (48) and Oladejo Taiwo (52) — were arrested at Omifufun Village, Ife South LGA, with 635kg of skunk found in their Toyota Hiace bus (DDA65ZY). Two others, Timothy Omiwole (41) and Isaac Achiatan (36), were arrested at the same location with 100kg of skunk and a motorcycle.
In Rivers State, Okoro Julius (20) and Onyebuchi Nwibo (25) were apprehended in connection with 8.5kg of skunk, while in Katsina, Sulaiman Kalalu (46) was arrested after 29.5kg of the same substance was found in his home at Bayan Asiti, Jibia town.
In Niger State, NDLEA officers arrested Yisa Daniel (29) at New Bussa with 22,000 capsules of Tramadol, 800 ampoules of Pentazocine injection, and 150,000 pills of Exol-5.
Elsewhere, 312kg of skunk was discovered in a bush at Ologede Camp, Ogbese, Ondo State, while operatives along the Benin–Lagos expressway intercepted Francis John (39) and Adeyemi Taiwo (46) with 141.8kg of skunk. In Kaduna, Rufai Ahmed (27), alias Farin Malam, was caught transporting 150,000 pills of Exol-5 from Lagos to Katsina.
NDLEA Sustains WADA Sensitization Campaign
Meanwhile, the Agency continues its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitization drive across schools, workplaces, worship centres, and communities nationwide. Recent sensitization activities were held at:
- General Murtala Mohammed College, Yola, Adamawa
- Assembly of God Secondary School, Abakaliki, Ebonyi
- Community Girls Secondary School, Bakori, Katsina
- Girls Secondary School, Nenwe, Enugu
- Day Secondary School, Tungan Mallam, Niger
- Sacred Heart Secondary School, Kabba, Kogi
- Ebenezer Model Secondary School, Onitsha, Anambra
- Government Secondary School, Borikiri, Rivers
- Government Junior Secondary School, Wakili Bawa, Kano
- Baptist High School, Ede, Osun
Commending the officers involved in the successful operations, NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), lauded their professionalism and resilience, urging them to maintain the agency’s momentum in the fight against drug trafficking and abuse.
