NDLEA Busts UK-Bound Cocaine Syndicate, Raids Lagos Nightclub Over Drug Party, Arrests Pretty Mike and Others
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has uncovered 70 parcels of cocaine concealed in body cream containers bound for the United Kingdom and arrested multiple suspects across Lagos and other parts of the country in a series of coordinated operations.
The cocaine, weighing 3.60 kilograms, was discovered on October 14, 2025, at the export shed of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos. The illicit drugs were hidden in cocoa butter formula body cream containers and packaged as personal effects destined for London on an Air Peace flight.
A cargo agent, Lawal Mustapha Olakunle, who presented the shipment for airfreight, was immediately arrested. Follow-up investigations led to the arrest of Ogunmuyide Taiwo Deborah, a healthcare worker, and Mutiu Adebayo Adebiyi, CEO of Mutiu Adebiyi & Co Travel Agency, at his Ikeja GRA office.
In another operation, NDLEA officers at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, intercepted Lemena Mark, a 35-year-old national of Lesotho, who attempted to export 103.59 grams of methamphetamine concealed in a diabetic herbs coffee tea pack to the Philippines via Ethiopian Airlines on October 22.
Similarly, operatives in Kwara State arrested Umar Abubakar, 40, with 21,950 capsules of Tramadol 250mg hidden inside a 100-litre water heater at Bode Saadu, Moro LGA, on October 21, following credible intelligence.
In Lagos, NDLEA stormed Proxy Night Club, located at 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, in the early hours of Sunday, October 26, disrupting an ongoing drug party. Over 100 suspects, including the club owner Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, popularly known as Pretty Mike, were arrested. Cartons of “Loud” and “laughing gas” were recovered from the club’s store and party scene.
The operation, based on intelligence, saw undercover NDLEA operatives infiltrate the club from 11 p.m. Saturday until the raid was executed at 3 a.m. Sunday.
Elsewhere, NDLEA operatives made several other significant seizures:
- 450,000 pills of Tramadol and Exol-5 were intercepted in Taraba State on October 21.
- 162.2kg of cannabis (skunk) was seized along the Okene-Lokoja highway on October 24.
- 128kg of cannabis was recovered in Keffi, Nasarawa State, from Abubakar Muhammad, 55.
- In Lagos, Oyonumoh Glory Effiong, a mother of two and major distributor of high-grade “Loud” in Lekki, Ajah, Ikoyi, VI, and VGC, was arrested with 500 grams of the substance.
- In Ikorodu, Ogunyabo Adenigbigbe was arrested with 275 litres of “skuchies”, a cocktail of black currant drink, cannabis, and opioids.
- A 75-year-old man, Echendu Onuoka, and a 60-year-old woman, Aukana John, were arrested in Abia State with 4.7kg and 225 grams of cannabis, respectively.
In Zamfara, NDLEA officers on patrol along the Gummi–Anka road arrested Abubakar Ibrahim, 30, with an AK-47 rifle and 1,746 rounds of assorted ammunition bound for Bagega forest in Anka LGA. The suspect and exhibits have been handed over to the relevant security agency.
Across the country, NDLEA formations continued their War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitization campaigns in schools, religious centers, and workplaces, including outreach programs in Oyo, Kebbi, Enugu, Benue, Taraba, Rivers, and Kano States.
While commending the efforts of officers across various commands, NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), urged operatives to sustain the momentum in the agency’s balanced approach to drug control — combining enforcement with intensive public education.
