Progressives Group Launched in Lagos, Pledges Support for APC Policies
A new political platform, The Progressives Group, Lagos, has been officially launched with a commitment to advancing democratic dividends and promoting social reforms in the state.
The group, led by Hon. Shakiru Agiyon Wusu as Chairman and Prince Adewale Samson as Publicity Secretary, unveiled its agenda on Tuesday during Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day celebration, describing the day as “an auspicious moment to present our vision to Lagosians and Nigerians at large.”
According to the group, its mission is to promote, project, and defend the programmes and policies of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at both state and national levels. The members, described as young but experienced grassroots politicians, said they had been actively engaged in Lagos politics for over three decades.
In a statement, the group emphasized its commitment to contributing solutions to governance challenges while supporting the state government in delivering on its promises.
“We are advocates for social reforms domiciled in Lagos, committed to continuous progress of the state, and to ensuring equitable distribution of democratic dividends to the people,” the statement read.
The Progressives Group also announced plans to hold quarterly interventions on state and national issues, highlighting its vision for a transformative and progressive Lagos where leadership translates vision into reality.
With the theme “Advancing Progressive Democracy in the State of Excellence,” the group reaffirmed its loyalty to the ideals of progressivism while pledging to work towards a better and more prosperous Lagos.
The statement concluded with a rallying call:
“Aluta Continua… Victoria Ascerta. Long live the Progressives Group! Long live Lagos State!! Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!!!”
