Dangote Cement Plc has once again emerged as Nigeria’s most tax-compliant organisation, receiving top honours from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) for the second consecutive year.

The recognition was presented during the FIRS Special Day at the 2025 Lagos International Trade Fair, held at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos. According to the tax authority, the company topped the Large Taxpayer Group following a rigorous evaluation conducted in collaboration with tax controllers across multiple jurisdictions.

Receiving the award on behalf of the company, Dangote Cement’s Group Head, Tax and Compliance, Mojisola Ogunlade, said the recognition reaffirms the company’s unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and strict adherence to tax obligations.

“This recognition is a testament to our dedication to meeting all compliance obligations and contributing to national growth,” Ogunlade said. She noted that the company remains committed to strengthening its collaboration with FIRS and upholding global best practices that promote a transparent and efficient tax system.

Ogunlade added that consistent recognition of compliant organisations by FIRS will continue to encourage corporate entities to meet their civic responsibilities. She recalled that Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) paid over N402 billion in taxes in 2024, making it Nigeria’s highest taxpayer for that year.

Justifying the award, the Dangote Tax Compliance Head explained that the Group maintains world-class tax management processes that ensure strict adherence to statutory timelines, eliminate non-compliance costs, and reinforce a culture of responsible corporate citizenship.

“For Dangote Cement, the recognition serves as further motivation to sustain its leadership in corporate governance and its contribution to Nigeria’s economic progress,” she added.

Earlier, Director of the Taxpayers Service Department at FIRS, Dr. Lovette Onanuga, highlighted the significance of celebrating top-performing taxpayers. She explained that the 2025 recognition list was compiled based on inputs from tax controllers nationwide, with compliance, promptness, and professionalism serving as key benchmarks.

“Your partnership as taxpayers is essential to helping FIRS fulfil its mandate,” she said. “It is important that we honour your commitment in this special way.”
