Lagos, Nigeria — November 5, 2025
The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government and Chairman of Conference 57, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, on Wednesday attended the onboarding session of the State Oversight Committees (SOCs) for the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) in the South-West Zone.
The event, held at De-Rembrandt Hotel and Suites, Ikeja, brought together key stakeholders in the health sector to discuss the implementation of the BHCPF 2.0 framework, a reform initiative designed to enhance transparency, accountability, and performance-based financing within Nigeria’s primary health care system.
The onboarding session focused on improving fund management, ensuring efficient disbursement of resources, and strengthening health governance at the state and local government levels.
According to participants, the renewed approach under BHCPF 2.0 is expected to deliver measurable improvements in health outcomes by ensuring that funds directly benefit health facilities and the communities they serve.
The programme also underscored the Federal and State Governments’ shared commitment to building a more equitable and sustainable health care system that guarantees access to quality primary health care for all Nigerians.
