Lagos Assembly Health Committee Inspects Ongoing Projects at Igbogbo/Baiyeku PHC

The Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Health on Friday, 14 November 2025, conducted an oversight visit to Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) to assess ongoing state-funded projects and existing healthcare infrastructure at the Primary Health Centre (PHC).

The delegation, led by the Committee Chairman, Hon. Lawal Aina Musibau (Apapa II), and member, Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun (Ikorodu II), was received at the Council Secretariat by the Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, alongside the Vice Chairman, Barr. Ade Ayeni, and Chief of Staff, Hon. Wasiu Oluwu.

The lawmakers proceeded to the PHC, where they conducted a detailed inspection of ongoing structural upgrades, facility expansion works, and the installation of new medical equipment. They also examined the state of existing infrastructure, staffing levels, and the centre’s preparedness to manage increased patient traffic upon project completion.

During the visit, the Committee reiterated the Lagos State Government’s commitment to strengthening the primary healthcare system as the bedrock of quality and accessible medical service delivery. They emphasized the Assembly’s resolve to ensure accountability, value for money, and improved outcomes across all health-related projects.

Chairman Aroyewun commended the Committee for the visit, describing it as both timely and reassuring. He noted that the upgrades at the PHC would significantly boost maternal and child healthcare, emergency response, immunization services, and outpatient care for residents of Igbogbo, Baiyeku, and neighbouring communities. He pledged continued collaboration with state authorities in line with his administration’s GLORY agenda, particularly in advancing healthcare.

The visit ended with an interactive session involving the lawmakers, council leadership, and healthcare workers, during which they discussed operational realities, challenges, and areas requiring additional state intervention.

Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA reaffirmed its commitment to working with state institutions to ensure accessible, efficient, and people-centered healthcare services for all residents.
