Polaris Bank Launches Empowerment Initiative for Breast Cancer Survivors

Lagos, Nigeria – November 2, 2025

Polaris Bank has unveiled the “Adopt a Survivor Breast Cancer Support Initiative,” a social impact programme designed to empower breast cancer survivors to rebuild their lives and livelihoods after completing treatment.

While October is globally recognized for breast cancer awareness, Polaris Bank said it is extending its focus to the post-treatment phase, where many survivors face economic and emotional challenges in regaining stability.

The initiative provides livelihood and business support to verified survivors, enabling them to restart small enterprises and return to income-earning activities with dignity.

Delivering a message from the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Polaris Bank, Mr. Kayode Lawal, during a presentation at the office of the Bank’s NGO partner, C.O.P.E Foundation, in Lagos, the Head of Brand Management and Corporate Communication, Rasheed Bolarinwa, said the programme reflects Polaris Bank’s dedication to transforming corporate success into meaningful social impact.

“At Polaris Bank, we believe true impact happens when corporate growth translates into empowerment for people. The ‘Adopt a Survivor’ initiative allows us to stand with women—not just in the fight against breast cancer, but in rebuilding their confidence and independence,” Bolarinwa stated.

He noted that the initiative aligns with Polaris Bank’s CSR pillars of health, women empowerment, and community wellbeing, while also contributing to the broader objectives of ESG and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) focused on wellness and economic inclusion.

This year’s programme builds on Polaris Bank’s earlier survivor-focused initiatives, including wellness retreats and capacity-building training for women who have successfully battled breast cancer.

Through the “Adopt a Survivor” initiative, Polaris Bank reaffirmed its commitment to supporting women’s recovery journeys and helping them live meaningful, economically independent lives beyond treatment.
