Soludo Dismisses Obiano Death Rumour, Confirms Former Governor Is Alive and Well

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has debunked widespread rumours alleging the death of former Governor of the state, Chief Willie Maduaburochukwu Obiano (Akpokuodike).

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, Governor Soludo described the reports—circulated across social media and some online platforms—as malicious, wicked, and utterly false.

The Governor confirmed that he personally spoke with Chief Obiano and can affirm that the former governor is alive, hale, and hearty.

Soludo condemned the reckless dissemination of unverified information, urging media practitioners, particularly online publishers, to uphold professional ethics by verifying claims from official sources before going public.

He warned that spreading false death reports not only causes emotional distress but also erodes public trust.

The Governor called on the public to disregard the rumour and assured that Chief Obiano is in good health. He also extended his good wishes to the former governor, praying for continued strength, peace, and long life.
