The Progressive Group Welcomes New Era in Agege: Hails Speaker’s Son as Council Chairman After Hon Tunde Azeez Resignation
The Progressives Group has commended Hon. Tunde Azeez (Disco) for his bold and selfless decision to voluntarily step down as Chairman of Agege Local Government due to health challenges.
In a statement signed by its Secretary, Comrade Shola Omolola, the group praised Hon. Azeez for prioritizing the progress of the council over personal interest, describing his action as unprecedented in local government administration.
According to the group, Hon. Azeez will be remembered as the first local government chairman to resign his position on health grounds, noting that others in similar situations might have preferred to remain in office to the detriment of the people’s welfare.
The Progressives Group also advised the new chairman, Hon. AbdulGaniyu Vinod Obasa, to live up to the expectations of the people and ensure the delivery of democratic dividends to residents of Agege.
They urged the good people of Agege to support the new chairman in continuing the laudable programmes of the council and pledged the group’s readiness to offer advice and support to help him succeed.
The statement further commended Hon. Obasa for demonstrating strong leadership qualities during his brief period as Acting Chairman and encouraged him to sustain the momentum in his substantive role.
