Ibeju-Lekki Announces Second Round of Polio Outbreak Response Campaign
The Ibeju-Lekki Local Government has announced that the second round of the Polio Outbreak Response (OBR) campaign will hold from Saturday, November 6 to Tuesday, November 9, 2025.
The exercise is part of the ongoing statewide Polio Campaign led by the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board, in collaboration with the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) and international health partners. The campaign aims to halt the spread of the circulating variant poliovirus type 2 (cVPV2) in the state.
According to the council, vaccination teams will conduct house-to-house visits, and will also cover schools, churches, mosques, and markets across all communities in Ibeju-Lekki. Children between 0 and 59 months (under five years) will receive the free Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV).
Residents, especially parents and guardians, are urged to present their children for immunization, as the vaccine is safe, free, and effective in preventing paralysis caused by poliovirus.
The council emphasized the need for full community cooperation to ensure that no eligible child is missed, adding that collective participation is key to maintaining a polio-free Lagos State.
