Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA Begins 2026 Budget Retreat, Targets ‘Inclusive Prosperity’

Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (IBLCDA) has commenced its 2026 Budget Retreat, setting the foundation for what it describes as a “Budget of Inclusive Prosperity.” The two-day strategic session, which began on Thursday, December 4, 2025, continues on Friday, December 5.

The retreat, led by the Executive Chairman, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, brings together the Legislative Arm, Executive Council members, management staff, and representatives of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Igbogbo Chapter. The goal is to align the council’s fiscal direction with its vision of sustainable development and broad-based economic growth.

To strengthen the process, a team of financial experts facilitated a practical training session, offering guidance to ensure the budget aligns with best practices and modern governance standards.

This year’s retreat places strong emphasis on building a comprehensive and equitable financial framework that ensures all residents—regardless of social or economic background—benefit from the council’s development agenda. Discussions are focused on critical pillars such as:

  • Community-driven development projects
  • Innovative and citizen-friendly revenue generation strategies
  • Expanded social welfare and empowerment programmes
  • Upgraded infrastructure, healthcare, education, and youth development
  • Enhanced transparency, accountability, and fiscal discipline

Speaking during the opening session, Chairman Aroyewun stated that the 2026 budget would reflect the collective aspirations of residents while promoting shared prosperity and accelerating the council’s ongoing development strides.

He assured that the administration remains committed to crafting a fiscal blueprint that supports inclusive growth and ensures no segment of the population is left behind.

More updates are expected as the retreat continues.
