The Inspector-General of Police has approved the appointment of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Oluseyi Babaseyi as the new Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Ogun State Police Command.
DSP Babaseyi brings a rich blend of legal expertise, operational experience, and strategic communication skills to his new role. He holds an LL.B in Law from the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano; a Barrister-at-Law (BL) qualification from the Nigerian Law School, Lagos Campus; and a Diploma in Law from Osun State University. A proud member of the pioneer 1st Regular Course of the Police Academy, his strong academic foundation has shaped his proficiency in law enforcement, investigations, administration, and public relations.
Over the years, he has served in various critical roles across police divisions and specialized units. He was Divisional Crime Officer at Monatan and Kajorepo Divisions, and Officer-in-Charge of Ilaji and Lagelu Police Posts in Oyo State, where he successfully coordinated crime prevention efforts, supervised personnel, and led criminal investigations.
His operational capacity broadened with a three-year stint as Unit Commander at 22 Police Mobile Force (PMF). In 2023, he trained at the Nigerian Army School of Special Forces, Buni Yadi, before participating in joint military operations under Operation Hadin Kai, combating insurgency across Yobe and Borno States.
DSP Babaseyi is also well-grounded in police administration and strategic communication. He previously served as Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command and as Secretary to the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State — roles that placed him at the heart of command administration and inter-agency coordination. Until his latest appointment, he was notable for his effective media engagement and proactive information management.
