IGP Egbetokun Commends Governor Sanwo-Olu as Lagos Donates 100 Patrol Vehicles to Boost Security

Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has lauded Lagos State Governor, Dr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for his sustained commitment to enhancing security across the state, particularly with the recent donation of 100 new patrol vehicles to the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies.

The IGP made the commendation during his courtesy visit to the Governor at Lagos House, Marina, where he met Dr. Sanwo-Olu alongside the Executive Secretary/CEO of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr. Ayo Ogunsan, and other senior government officials. The visit followed the Governor’s announcement at the 19th Annual Town Hall Meeting on Security, organised by LSSTF and held at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island.

Governor Sanwo-Olu noted that the vehicles—procured through a joint effort between the Lagos State Government and Conference 57—reflect his administration’s renewed commitment to safeguarding lives, property, and key economic assets in the state. He emphasized that effective security delivery requires collective responsibility and continuous collaboration among government institutions, security agencies, the private sector, and citizens.

He further stated that the intervention aligns with the Security and Governance pillar of the THEMES+ Agenda, reaffirming Lagos State’s dedication to supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s broader national security reforms through state-level innovation.

IGP Egbetokun described Lagos as a national benchmark for subnational security support, commending both the state government and LSSTF for their consistency in strengthening policing capacity. He added that the new fleet of patrol vehicles will improve response time, operational efficiency, and overall mobility—particularly crucial ahead of the busy festive season.

This year’s Town Hall Meeting, themed “Building Trust, Enhancing Security: A New Era of Security and Partnerships,” convened top national and state leaders, security chiefs, private sector players, and traditional rulers to review progress, share insights, and reinforce security partnerships.
