LASEMA, LSSTF Move to Deepen Collaboration on Emergency Response in Lagos

The Permanent Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, has paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr. Ayo Ogunsan, at the Fund’s headquarters in Alausa, Ikeja, to strengthen inter-agency collaboration on emergency management and public safety.

The visit was aimed at enhancing institutional synergy between LASEMA and the LSSTF in order to improve emergency preparedness, response capacity, and overall safety outcomes across Lagos State.

Speaking during the visit, Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu commended the LSSTF for its consistent support to security and safety agencies in the state, noting that the Fund’s interventions have significantly boosted operational efficiency and emergency response capabilities.

He stressed the importance of strong collaboration among government agencies in tackling emergencies, disasters, and security challenges in a rapidly expanding megacity such as Lagos, adding that effective coordination remains key to saving lives and protecting property.

In his response, Dr. Ogunsan welcomed the LASEMA chief and reaffirmed the LSSTF’s commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance safety, resilience, and emergency management across the state.

Describing LASEMA as a critical component of Lagos State’s safety and security architecture, Ogunsan emphasized the need for continuous collaboration, innovation, and capacity building among relevant agencies to meet evolving security and emergency challenges.

Both officials expressed optimism that the engagement would further strengthen cooperation between their agencies, leading to improved emergency response outcomes and enhanced protection of lives and property in Lagos.

LASEMA is the statutory agency of the Lagos State Government responsible for coordinating and managing disaster and emergency situations statewide. Its mandate includes disaster risk reduction, emergency preparedness, search and rescue operations, rapid response to natural and man-made disasters, recovery and relief coordination, and public sensitization on safety and emergency management through a 24-hour emergency response system and a multi-agency coordination framework.
