LSSTF Strengthens RRS with New Patrol Vehicles as Ogunsan Hosts Commander Jejeloye

The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has reinforced the operational capacity of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) with the presentation of three brand new patrol vehicles, reaffirming the state’s commitment to enhancing security infrastructure across Lagos.

The Executive Secretary/CEO of the LSSTF, Dr. Ayo Ogunsan, handed over the vehicles while receiving the Commander of the RRS, CSP Shola Jejeloye, who paid a courtesy visit to his office on Friday, January 16, 2026.

The intervention, which underscores LSSTF’s continuous support for security agencies in the state, is aimed at boosting rapid response, crime prevention, and public safety. The development aligns with the Fund’s mandate to provide critical logistics and operational support to law enforcement agencies operating in Lagos.

Speaking during the visit, CSP Jejeloye expressed deep appreciation to Dr. Ogunsan for his visible leadership and impactful achievements since assuming office in November 2025. He described the LSSTF’s support as vital to the effectiveness of security operations in the state.

“We don’t have any challenge that will prevent us from delivering on our mandate. We sincerely thank you for all the support you have rendered to us,” Jejeloye said.

The RRS Commander further appealed to the LSSTF to consider the repair, refurbishment, and rebranding of some existing operational vehicles in the unit’s fleet, noting that such intervention would extend their lifespan and enhance operational efficiency.

“We are still looking forward to more support. Some of our operational vehicles are currently not functional, and we want to ensure that the ones we have are put to active and judicious use,” he added.

In his response, Dr. Ogunsan reaffirmed the LSSTF’s unwavering commitment to supporting the RRS and other security agencies, describing the squad as a critical component of Lagos State’s security architecture.

“RRS is directly under our purview; you are our own police. It doesn’t make sense if we are doing for others and not for you,” he said, noting that the squad’s effectiveness is evident in the swift containment of emergencies and security threats across the state.

Dr. Ogunsan assured the Commander that the request for vehicle refurbishment and rebranding would receive due consideration, while also revealing plans to explore capacity-building initiatives for security operatives.

“Any organisation with over 100 vehicles will experience challenges like this. We are also considering a human capacity workshop to train operatives of the RRS and other security agencies. For robust training, we will seek your input and that of other senior officers to develop the curriculum and engage experienced ex-officers as facilitators. We want to change the narrative around policing,” he stated.

Commending CSP Jejeloye’s leadership style, Dr. Ogunsan praised his professionalism, discipline, and adherence to best practices.

“People need to study you. You are a principled police officer—firm yet friendly. Many don’t see that friendly side because you do not compromise operational standards. I appreciate the good work you do, and I am happy to work with you. You have proven your capacity at the Lagos State Task Force, and you are on the right track. I will support you,” he said.

Members of the RRS Commander’s entourage included the Station Officer, ASP Oladele Ajayi; Officer in Charge of Communications, ASP Dipo Olurinde; and Osunmirem Sunday.

Also present at the meeting were the LSSTF Director of Administration, Mr. Degbola Lewis, and the Executive Assistant to the LSSTF, Mrs. Adaobi Nwankwo.
