NDLEA Lagos Commander Decorates 55 Newly Promoted Officers, Commends 23 Others

Lagos, Thursday, January 8, 2026 — The Lagos Strategic Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Thursday decorated fifty-five (55) newly promoted officers and presented commendation letters to twenty-three (23) others in recognition of their outstanding service and dedication to duty.

The decoration ceremony, which also formed part of the Command’s 2026 New Year get-together, was presided over by the State Commander, Assistant Commander General of Narcotics (ACGN) Abubakar Liman Wali.

The promotions followed the successful completion of promotion examinations and interviews conducted for deserving officers in 2025.

Delivering his welcome address, ACGN Wali described the newly promoted and commended officers as “shining examples of what dedication, discipline, integrity and commitment can achieve,” stressing that their elevation was not merely a change in rank but a mark of trust earned through sacrifice, hard work and unwavering loyalty to the mandate of the NDLEA.

“Your promotions are symbols of trust — trust earned through sacrifice, hard work, and unwavering loyalty. I charge you to wear your new ranks with pride, humility and renewed determination,” the Commander said.

He noted that the ceremony was not only a celebration of individual achievements but also a reflection of the resilience, courage and unity of the Lagos Strategic Command, which, despite operational challenges, recorded notable successes in 2025.

According to him, officers of the Command stood firm throughout the year, worked collectively and delivered results that strengthened the safety of Lagos State and Nigeria at large.

The State Commander further urged officers to remain focused and committed, assuring them that their sacrifices were recognised and valued, while calling on them to intensify efforts in the fight against illicit drug trafficking and abuse across the state.

“As we enter 2026, let us carry forward this spirit of excellence. Our work is not just a job; it is a calling — service to humanity and the difference between chaos and safety,” he added.

In her goodwill message, the Zonal Commander, NDLEA Zone 8 (Lagos and Ogun), ACGN Stella Ngoke, commended the Lagos Strategic Command leadership and officers for their sustained efforts in dismantling drug cartels, confiscating criminal assets and prosecuting offenders.

She described the promotions as part of the current NDLEA administration’s commitment to rewarding hard work and professionalism, urging officers to reciprocate the gesture by redoubling efforts in their respective assignments.

The event concluded with a renewed call for unity, professionalism and adherence to the core values of the NDLEA, as the Command pledged to build on its achievements in 2026.
