 Police File Six-Count Cybercrime Charges Against Blogger Adetoun Onajobi

The Ogun State Police Command has filed a six-count charge bordering on cyberbullying and related offences against a social media blogger, Adetoun Onajobi, popularly known as @justadetoun.

The charges are currently pending before the Abeokuta Division of the Federal High Court and are anchored on alleged violations of the Cybercrimes Act, following claims that the blogger published false and defamatory content against the Ogun State Government and engaged in sustained online harassment of the Ogun State Governor.

According to the Police, Onajobi was invited on 2 January 2026 to respond to allegations arising from her online activities. However, she failed to honour the invitation, with her lawyer informing the Command that she was medically indisposed. A medical report purportedly issued by a doctor was attached to the letter to support the claim.

Subsequent discreet investigations by the Police reportedly revealed that the medical report was falsified. The doctor who allegedly issued the report was arrested and later admitted that the document was fabricated at the behest of Adetoun Onajobi during a phone conversation facilitated by her lawyer.

Following the revelation, the doctor was arraigned before an Ogun State Magistrates’ Court on charges of conspiracy, uttering a false document, and obstruction of justice.

The Police Command stated that Adetoun Onajobi has since remained evasive and has refused to honour further invitations, adding that her current whereabouts are unknown.

Reaffirming its commitment to law enforcement, the Command noted that while freedom of expression is constitutionally guaranteed, it does not confer immunity from criminal liability, particularly where actions amount to cybercrime or obstruction of justice.

The Police also disclosed that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other individuals allegedly connected to the dissemination of false information intended to impede police investigations.

The Ogun State Police Command stressed that it will exhaust all lawful means to apprehend the suspect and ensure her appearance in court to answer the charges already filed.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command.
