InterswitchSPAK 8.0 Opens Registration for SS2 STEM Students, Offers Over ₦40m in Scholarships

Interswitch has commenced nationwide registration for the eighth edition of its flagship National Science Competition, InterswitchSPAK, inviting Senior Secondary School 2 (SS2) students across Nigeria to compete for scholarships worth over ₦40 million.

The technology company announced that registration for InterswitchSPAK 8.0 is now open and will close on May 24, 2026. For the first time since the competition’s inception, parents and guardians can independently register their wards, in addition to the traditional school-based group registration process.

InterswitchSPAK is designed to identify, nurture, and reward exceptional students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), while equipping them with the knowledge and skills required to thrive in these fields.

According to the organisers, this year’s competition features an expanded prize structure aimed at broadening its impact. The overall winner will receive a ₦15 million tertiary education scholarship with monthly stipends, payable over five years. The first runner-up will be awarded a ₦10 million scholarship, while the second runner-up will receive ₦5 million, both also spread over five years and inclusive of monthly stipends.

In addition, the top nine finalists will receive brand new laptops and other prizes.

Season 8 also introduces enhanced rewards for finalists ranked fourth to ninth, alongside increased recognition for teachers whose students finish between first and ninth positions. The organisers say the move underscores the critical role educators play in shaping academic excellence.

Speaking on the launch, Executive Vice President, Group Marketing and Communications at Interswitch, Cherry Eromosele, said the initiative reflects the company’s sustained commitment to youth development and education.

“At Interswitch, we strongly believe that Nigeria’s future will be shaped by how well we nurture today’s young minds. InterswitchSPAK goes beyond competition; it is a long-term commitment to empowering students and supporting teachers who are laying the foundation for innovation, problem-solving, and national development,” she said.

Eromosele added that the programme remains focused on creating opportunities, rewarding merit, and inspiring excellence across Nigeria.

Over the past seven editions, InterswitchSPAK has awarded full university scholarships, provided mentorship opportunities, and offered national recognition to outstanding students. The competition also leverages a technology-driven and transparent selection process to ensure educational equity and merit-based outcomes for participants from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.

Interswitch called on students, parents, teachers, and school administrators to encourage eligible candidates to participate, describing the competition as a platform that can shape students’ academic and professional futures.

Interested SS2 students are required to register online at www.interswitchspak.com on or before May 24, 2026.

Through the initiative, Interswitch said it remains committed to strengthening Nigeria’s education ecosystem and empowering the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators to excel both locally and globally.
