Lagos Police Arrest Two Suspected Armed Robbers, Recover Pistols and Ammunition in Ajegunle, Ojo

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered locally made firearms and live ammunition during separate intelligence-led operations in Ajegunle and Ojo areas of the state, reinforcing its ongoing crackdown on criminal activities.

The Lagos State Police Command has recorded another major operational success with the arrest of two suspected armed robbers and the recovery of firearms and ammunition in Ajegunle and Ojo, the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP) reports.

In Ajegunle, police operatives acted on credible intelligence regarding suspected hoodlums who allegedly used commercial motorcycles while armed with dangerous weapons to rob unsuspecting members of the public. Acting swiftly, operatives of the Command Tactical Team, Thunder Blast, were deployed to the area, leading to the arrest of one Waheed Orelope, a 27-year-old male.

Preliminary investigations revealed that one locally made pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from the suspect during the operation.

Similarly, in Ojo, intelligence reports indicated that suspected hoodlums had taken over the Iyana Iba Under Bridge area, posing a serious threat to commuters and residents. In response, the Surveillance Team of the Ojo Division was immediately deployed to the location, resulting in the arrest of one Wasiu Shonibare, a 29-year-old male. One locally made pistol was recovered from the suspect.

Both suspects are currently in police custody, while investigations are ongoing to determine their level of involvement and to track down other members of the suspected criminal gang. The police assured that further updates would be provided as investigations progress.
