Lagos State Security Trust Fund Donates Four Vehicles to Boost Police Patrols Across Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has received four new patrol vehicles from the , in a bid to strengthen the operational capacity of the police and enhance the safety of lives and property across the state. The donation, made under the leadership of the Trust Fund’s Executive Secretary and CEO,Dr Ayo Ogunsan , forms part of ongoing initiatives by the Lagos State Government to support law enforcement agencies in ensuring public security.

Speaking during the handover, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olorundare Moshood Jimoh, said the vehicles would be deployed strategically to new crime prevention and community protection units, including a dedicated patrol team covering Victoria Island, Lekki, Epe, and other high-risk corridors. The vehicles are expected to complement existing security operations by the Eko Strike Force and the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), ensuring 24-hour coverage across Lagos.

“Through the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, under the directive of His Excellency, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, we continue to prioritize the protection of lives and property. With these additional vehicles, we will further strengthen our capacity for proactive patrols, crime prevention, and rapid response,” said CP Jimoh.

The Commissioner explained that the vehicles will particularly serve the newly established Anti-Crime Patrol and Community Protection teams, tasked with monitoring both residential and commercial areas and supporting ongoing crime prevention efforts. Officers will also use the vehicles to ensure safety along major state and federal highways, the coastline, and bustling city centers, including night-time patrols in entertainment hubs.

CP Jimoh lauded Governor Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to improving the logistics and operational readiness of security personnel in Lagos. He noted that recent investments, including vehicles, tactical equipment, and personnel allowances, have significantly enhanced crime prevention and detection across the state.

“This initiative is a clear demonstration of the collaboration between the Lagos State Government, the Security Trust Fund, and our Command. It is aimed at taking policing closer to the people, removing crime, and reducing the fear of crime in communities across Lagos,” he said.

The Commissioner assured that officers would continue to patrol relentlessly, sustain gains in public safety, and uphold law and order, emphasizing that all remaining criminal elements would be pursued and brought to justice.

The donation reinforces Lagos State’s reputation for having one of the most robust security architectures in Nigeria, with integrated patrol teams and strategic deployments across the state’s coastline, major highways, and high-density areas.
