Lagos Transport Ministry, Federal Works Controller Strengthen Collaboration for Seamless Project Delivery
The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation has intensified efforts to ensure seamless infrastructure delivery and traffic management following a strategic engagement with the Federal Controller of Works, Engr. Olufemi Dare, and his delegation.
The meeting, held earlier on Thursday, was aimed at fostering stronger collaboration between the Lagos State Government and the Federal Ministry of Works to enhance project execution and mitigate traffic challenges across the state.
Welcoming the delegation, the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, described the engagement as a critical step toward strengthening institutional ties and achieving efficient project delivery. He underscored Lagos State’s unique mobility challenges, noting that the state’s population of over 30 million people and heavy daily vehicular movement demand proactive traffic management and robust safety measures.
Mr. Osiyemi called for action-oriented and strategic engagements between both parties, stressing that sustained collaboration is essential to delivering timely and impactful infrastructure projects.
Earlier, the Federal Controller of Works, Engr. Olufemi Dare, emphasized the need for intentional synergy between the Federal Ministry of Works and the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation. He noted that effective coordination, particularly in traffic management, is vital to ensuring smooth project delivery across the state.
He specifically identified the ongoing Coastal Road project as a critical area requiring joint operational efforts, given the high traffic volume currently experienced along the corridor.
Responding, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transportation, Mr. Olawale Musa, assured the Federal delegation of increased deployment of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) personnel, improved road signage, and enhanced security support along the Coastal Road axis.
Mr. Musa reiterated the importance of sustained collaboration between both ministries to ensure safety, efficiency, and minimal disruption to road users.
The meeting was attended by key officials from the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation and the Federal Ministry of Works.
