Mass Defection Boosts APC in Ibeju-Lekki as ADC, LP, PDP Members Dump Parties

Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos — The All Progressives Congress (APC) has recorded a major political boost in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area following the defection of a large number of members from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Labour Party (LP) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The decampees were formally received on Thursday, February 6, 2026, at the APC Secretariat in Iberekodo, in what party leaders described as a strong vote of confidence in the leadership and performance of the APC at both state and local levels.

Welcoming the new members, the APC Ibeju-Lekki LGA Chairman, Hon. Aliasau Eletu, alongside the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government and Chairman of Conference 57, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, assured them of full integration into the party structure.

The defectors, drawn from youth leaders, women groups, ward executives and grassroots supporters, attributed their decision to what they described as visible developmental strides, inclusive governance and people-focused policies of the APC-led administration under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Hon. Olowa.

Speaking on behalf of the APC State Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, Hon. Eletu described the mass defection as a defining moment for the party in Ibeju-Lekki.

“Today marks a new chapter of unity and strength for our party in Ibeju-Lekki. We are delighted to welcome these committed members from ADC, LP and PDP who have chosen to align with the progressive ideals of the APC,” he said.
“Their decision is a clear testament to the good governance being delivered under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and our Executive Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa.”

In his remarks, Hon. Olowa assured the defectors of equal opportunities within the party, describing their decision as a reinforcement of public trust in the APC’s developmental agenda.

“Ibeju-Lekki is moving forward, and we are stronger together,” he said.
“Your defection reaffirms confidence in our commitment to infrastructure, education, healthcare, security and empowerment programmes. We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure no one is left behind.”

Dignitaries at the event included the Special Adviser to the Governor on Energy and Mineral Resources, Hon. Abiola Okanlawon Olowu; Hon. Razaq Temitope Ojikutu; Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman, Lekki LCDA; APC Youth Senatorial Leader, Hon. Gbenga Balogun; and other party chieftains.

The development is seen as a further consolidation of APC’s political strength in Ibeju-Lekki ahead of future electoral contests.
