Oyo/Osun Customs Deepens Collaboration with Army, EFCC to Boost Security Operations

The Oyo/Osun Area Command of the (NCS) has strengthened inter-agency collaboration with the Nigerian Army and  the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as part of efforts to enhance national security and improve operational efficiency.

The renewed synergy followed separate engagements between the Command and the 2 Division of the Nigerian Army as well as the EFCC’s Ibadan Zonal Directorate.

On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, the Garrison Commander of the 2 Division, Brigadier General Abubakar Saddiq Bugaje, paid a courtesy visit to the Operational Headquarters of the Oyo/Osun Area Command in Ibadan. During the visit, he expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded him and his delegation.

Bugaje noted that the Nigerian Army is responsible for protecting lives and property within Oyo State and stressed the importance of sustained cooperation among security agencies, emphasizing that no agency can operate effectively in isolation. He reaffirmed the 2 Division’s commitment to continued collaboration and support for the Command in tackling security challenges across the state.

Responding, the Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller of Customs Moses Adewole, acknowledged the Army’s critical role in safeguarding the nation against external aggression and maintaining internal peace. He assured the Garrison Commander that the Oyo/Osun Area Command values the existing partnership and remains committed to strengthening ties to enhance operational effectiveness.

In a related development, on Thursday, February 26, 2026, the Customs Area Controller, accompanied by members of the Command’s management team, paid a familiarization visit to the EFCC Zonal Office in Ibadan.

During the visit, Adewole commended the Commission for its sustained efforts in combating corruption and financial crimes nationwide. He emphasized the need to deepen collaboration in the areas of joint operations, intelligence sharing, and capacity-building initiatives.

In her response, the EFCC Zonal Director, Mrs. Hauwa Garba Ringim, appreciated the visit and described the relationship between the Commission and the Oyo/Osun Area Command as cordial and mutually beneficial. She assured the Customs leadership of the EFCC’s continued support, particularly in intelligence sharing, joint enforcement operations, and other collaborative activities.

The engagements, according to the Command, underscore its commitment to building strategic partnerships with sister agencies to strengthen national security, promote transparency, and ensure efficient service delivery in line with national development goals.
