Sandisk has introduced a next-generation portable SSD portfolio aimed at meeting the growing storage demands of AI-generated content, high-resolution media, and increasingly complex digital workflows. The new three-tier lineup—comprising the SANDISK Portable SSD, SANDISK Extreme Portable SSD, and SANDISK Extreme PRO Portable SSD—is designed to serve everyday users, creative enthusiasts, and professional content creators.

The company announced that the SANDISK Extreme Portable SSD is available immediately, while the full portfolio will roll out later this year.

Built for Evolving Storage Needs

According to Heidi Arkinstall, Vice President of Consumer Marketing at SanDisk, the new lineup is tailored to provide dependable storage solutions whether users are at home, in the office, or on the move.

She noted that the portfolio strikes a balance between performance, portability, and durability—supporting everyone from casual users to creative professionals as their storage requirements evolve.

Performance Boost Across All Tiers

The refreshed portfolio delivers significant speed improvements and enhanced durability, responding to the surge in AI-developed content and the demand for faster data transfers.

SANDISK Extreme Portable SSD

Designed for photographers, videographers, and creative professionals handling large files, the drive offers read speeds of up to 2,000MB/s—nearly twice the speed of its predecessor. It can transfer up to 1,000 high-resolution photos in under 60 seconds. The model is available in capacities ranging from 1TB to 4TB, with a 500GB version expected.

SANDISK Extreme PRO Portable SSD

Targeted at professional filmmakers, designers, and photographers, this model delivers speeds of up to 4,000MB/s. It supports demanding tasks such as transferring up to 10 minutes of 12K video in under a minute. Available in 2TB and 4TB options, an 8TB variant is projected for release.

SANDISK Portable SSD

Aimed at students, office professionals, and everyday users, this model provides read speeds of up to 1,000MB/s. It offers a simple, reliable solution for backing up files, storing photos and videos, and managing personal data. The drive comes in 1TB and 2TB capacities, with a 500GB option planned.

Susan Park, Vice President of Consumer Products at SanDisk, emphasized that as photo and video resolutions increase and AI-generated content becomes more widespread, users are managing significantly larger volumes of data across multiple devices.

“With nearly double the speed and a purpose-built, pocket-sized design, our latest portable SSD portfolio can move massive files blazing fast, keeping creativity in motion and under control,” she said.

Enhanced Durability and Security

The new drives are built with durability in mind. The SANDISK Portable SSD is designed to withstand drops of up to two meters. Meanwhile, the SANDISK Extreme Portable SSD and SANDISK Extreme PRO Portable SSD offer drop protection of up to three meters and feature IP65 ratings for resistance against water and dust.

Both Extreme models also include password protection with 256-bit AES hardware encryption, adding an extra layer of security for sensitive files.

With this latest launch, Sandisk reinforces its commitment to delivering high-performance, portable storage solutions capable of handling the expanding demands of AI-powered content creation and professional digital production.
