Alleged Misconduct: OPC New Era Announces Expulsion of Shina Akinpelu
The Oodua People's Congress (OPC) New Era has officially expelled Comrade Shina Akinpelu from its fold over alleged acts of gross misconduct and what it described as an unacceptable attitude within the organization.
The decision was contained in a letter dated February 23, 2025, and signed by the National Secretary of the group, High Chief Bayo Oyename. In the letter, the leadership of OPC New Era stated that Akinpelu’s behavior was inconsistent with the values, discipline, and code of conduct expected of members of the congress.
According to Oyename, the expulsion followed a resolution reached by the national body of the organization after reviewing the allegations against him.
He further emphasized that Akinpelu is no longer recognized as a member of OPC New Era and must immediately stop presenting himself as a bona fide member of the group.
The organization warned that any attempt by Akinpelu to continue parading himself as a member would not be acknowledged by the congress. Efforts to obtain his reaction to the development were unsuccessful as of press time.
