Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun Swears In SLG, 16 Supervisors and 7 Special Advisers in Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area, Unveils GLORY Agenda
The Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area, Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, on Monday formally swore in the Secretary to the Local Government (SLG), 13 Supervisors and eight Special Advisers, charging them to embrace integrity, discipline and teamwork in driving grassroots development across the council area in Lagos State.
The ceremony, held at the council secretariat in Igbogbo, marked what the chairman described as a significant step in strengthening governance and accelerating development within the council.
Speaking during the inauguration, Aroyewun said the newly constituted executive team would play a crucial role in implementing his administration’s development blueprint, known as the GLORY Agenda, which focuses on improving governance, infrastructure, health, education, youth empowerment and environmental sustainability.
“This ceremony marks the formal inauguration of an integral team that will work closely with my office to drive the vision of our administration and meet the aspirations of our people,” the chairman said.
He stressed that public office must be driven by purpose and service rather than prestige, urging the appointees to remain committed to policies that directly improve the lives of residents of the council.
According to him, the GLORY Agenda serves as the guiding philosophy of his administration and is anchored on five strategic pillars: Good governance and green interventions, Learning, Optimal wellness, Roads and physical infrastructure, and Youth and sports development.
Aroyewun noted that the agenda reflects the council’s commitment to transparency, improved education opportunities, better healthcare services, infrastructure development and empowerment programmes for young people.
He also commended the legislative arm of the council, led by the Leader of the House, Hon. Basirat Banjoko, for what he described as its cooperation and synergy with the executive arm in advancing development in the council area.
Addressing the newly sworn-in Secretary to the Local Government, Alhaji Qudus Oduntan, the chairman described the office as the administrative backbone of the council, responsible for ensuring that governance processes remain efficient, transparent and aligned with the policies of the administration and the ruling All Progressives Congress.
“To our Supervisors and Special Advisers, you represent the operational strength of this administration. You have been selected not only because of your qualifications but because of our belief in your ability to contribute meaningfully to the progress of our LCDA,” he said.
The chairman urged them to work collaboratively with council staff and maintain close engagement with communities to ensure that government policies translate into visible benefits for residents.
He also stressed the importance of unity within the administration, warning against actions capable of creating divisions among political leaders and stakeholders.
“Governance is most meaningful when its impact can be seen and felt in the everyday lives of the people,” he added.
The council boss further reassured residents that his administration would continue to pursue policies that promote inclusive development and responsive grassroots governance.
He also announced that the Vice Chairman would serve as Supervisor for Investment and Wealth Creation, while several supervisory departments — including Civic Engagement, Culture and Tourism, Transport and Market Affairs, Social Services and Project Monitoring — would report to the vice chairman for coordinated implementation of policies.
The newly appointed officials include 16 Supervisors and seven Special Advisers, who will oversee various sectors of the council’s development.
