Lagos APC Congress Returns Ojelabi as Chairman, Inaugurates 37-Member State Executive

LAGOS – Cornelius Ojelabi has been returned as chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State following the party’s 2026 State Congress held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, where a new 37-member State Executive Committee was inaugurated.

More than 2,000 delegates drawn from the three senatorial districts of the state participated in the congress, affirming Ojelabi’s leadership through a voice vote in what party officials described as a peaceful and well-coordinated exercise conducted in line with the party’s constitution.

Chairman of the State Congress Committee, Stella Okotete, said the committee was honoured to preside over what she termed a significant moment for the APC in Lagos, noting that the state remains politically strategic to the party.

In his acceptance speech, Ojelabi thanked party leaders and members for renewing their confidence in his leadership, pledging to run an inclusive administration that would promote unity and strengthen the party’s structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He highlighted the achievements recorded by the party in the state over the past four years and assured members that the new executive would work collectively to secure electoral victories for APC candidates at all levels.

Ojelabi also commended the National Assembly of Nigeria for sustaining collaboration with the executive arm of government in delivering democratic dividends.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu charged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State to intensify grassroots mobilisation towards securing the re-election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

Sanwo-Olu, who attended the event alongside his deputy, Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, Chief of Staff Tayo Ayinde and other senior government officials, described the exercise as a demonstration of the party’s unity, strength and enduring political structure in Lagos.

The congress was attended by prominent party stakeholders, including former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode; members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) such as Tajudeen Olusi and Anthony Adefuye; as well as local government chairmen and other party leaders.

Party leaders at the event emphasised the need to elevate APC Lagos to a national reference point in party organisation and electoral success, urging deeper engagement, especially among youths and women, as preparations begin in earnest for the 2027 general elections.
