LSSTF Boss Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan Visits IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, Commends Welfare Initiatives and Police Reforms
The Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, has paid a courtesy visit to the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, commending the police chief for his welfare-driven leadership and ongoing institutional reforms aimed at strengthening the Nigeria Police Force.
During the meeting held on Tuesday, Ogunsan described the appointment of IGP Disu as a significant milestone for policing in Nigeria, noting that the police chief’s track record reflects professionalism, discipline, and a commitment to excellence in law enforcement.
According to the LSSTF boss, the emergence of Disu as the nation’s top cop represents a strategic development for the country’s security architecture, given his years of distinguished service and strong leadership credentials.
Ogunsan particularly applauded the Inspector-General’s people-oriented leadership style, highlighting several welfare initiatives introduced under his watch. He referenced the recent presentation of ₦2.4 billion in cheques to the families of fallen police officers as a powerful demonstration of compassion and institutional responsibility.
He noted that such initiatives not only support bereaved families but also significantly boost the morale of officers and men of the Force, encouraging greater dedication to duty.
The LSSTF chief also commended the ongoing reform agenda being implemented by the police leadership, describing the initiatives as progressive and necessary for repositioning the Force. He cited the recent promotion of 84 senior officers—including 13 Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) and 17 Commissioners of Police (CPs)—as a clear indication of the administration’s commitment to professionalism and career progression within the Force.
Ogunsan emphasized that steady professional growth remains a key motivating factor for officers and contributes to improved service delivery across the policing system.
Reaffirming the Fund’s commitment to security development, he assured the IGP of the continued support of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund in strengthening modern policing infrastructure and enhancing community-based security initiatives.
In his response, IGP Disu expressed appreciation for the visit and commended the Lagos State Security Trust Fund for its consistent support towards improving policing capacity in Lagos and beyond.
He reiterated his determination to prioritize personnel welfare, deepen institutional reforms, and strengthen discipline within the Nigeria Police Force, while assuring Nigerians of improved safety and security across the country.
