PSC Commissioner DIG Taiwo Lakanu Visits Lagos Police Command, Monitors Ongoing Recruitment Screening
A retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police and Commissioner representing the South-West at the Police Service Commission, Taiwo Lakanu, has visited the Lagos State Police Command to assess the ongoing police recruitment screening exercise and commend the command’s leadership for maintaining security across the state.
Lakanu, who also serves as Chairman of the Committee on All Police Matters at the commission, paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police in Lagos, Olohundare Jimoh, at the command headquarters in Ikeja on Tuesday.
He was accompanied by the Commandant of the Nigeria Police College, Ikeja, Omolara Oloruntola, and the Lagos State Commissioner representing the Federal Character Commission, Abdulwasiu Kayode Bawa-Allah.
Speaking during the visit, Lakanu said his trip to Lagos formed part of his supervisory responsibilities over the ongoing recruitment screening exercise being conducted across the state.
The retired DIG commended the leadership of the Lagos State Police Command for what he described as proactive and effective policing efforts aimed at safeguarding lives and property in the state.
He also charged members of the screening committee to maintain the highest level of discipline, integrity, and professionalism while carrying out their duties.
According to him, fairness and transparency must remain the guiding principles throughout the recruitment process to ensure credibility and public trust.
Responding, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Jimoh, thanked Lakanu for the visit and the commendation, assuring him of the command’s continued cooperation with the Police Service Commission.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Lagos State Police Command to supporting a transparent and hitch-free recruitment exercise while sustaining its efforts to enhance security across the state.
The visit forms part of ongoing oversight activities by the Police Service Commission to ensure that the nationwide police recruitment process is conducted in line with established standards and procedures.
