Verve International Joins PCI Security Standards Council, NEXO Standards Community to Boost Secure Digital Payments

Verve International, Africa’s leading payment card brand, has strengthened its global payments footprint by joining the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) and the NEXO Standards Community, a move aimed at enhancing payment security, interoperability, and innovation across Africa’s rapidly expanding digital commerce ecosystem.

Announcing the development on Thursday in Lagos, the company said the dual membership underscores its commitment to aligning with global best practices while contributing African insights to international payment standards.

The PCI Security Standards Council is responsible for developing and maintaining security standards designed to protect cardholder data across the global payments ecosystem. These standards guide financial institutions, merchants, payment processors, and solution providers in safeguarding sensitive payment information from fraud, data breaches, and operational risks.

By becoming a member of the council, Verve will participate in discussions shaping the future of payment security and ensure that its operations and partners continue to meet globally recognised data protection standards.

In addition, Verve has joined the NEXO Standards Community, an international consortium that develops universal messaging standards for payment acceptance systems. NEXO standards enable banks, processors, and payment terminals to communicate seamlessly through consistent and feature-rich messaging protocols.

The company said the move will simplify integration processes, enhance cross-market interoperability, and support the expansion of digital and cross-border payment services across Africa.
