WIMA Nigeria President Nwaeze Theodora Marks 100 Days in Office, Highlights Maritime Empowerment Agenda
The President of Women in Maritime Africa Nigeria (WIMA Nigeria), Nwaeze Theodora, has marked her first 100 days in office, highlighting key achievements and reaffirming her administration’s commitment to empowering women and strengthening collaboration within Nigeria’s maritime sector.
Speaking on the milestone, Theodora described the first 100 days as a period of purposeful engagement, strategic collaboration, and institutional strengthening aimed at advancing the role of women in the maritime industry.
She expressed appreciation to stakeholders across the maritime sector for their support and partnership, noting that their cooperation has contributed significantly to the progress recorded since she assumed office.
According to her, the journey so far reflects the trust reposed in the leadership of the association and the collective commitment of members and partners toward achieving its objectives.
The WIMA Nigeria president also commended members and executives of the association for their confidence in her leadership and continued support.
Since taking office, she explained that the administration has been guided by four strategic pillars—empowerment, collaboration, innovation, and national visibility—which have shaped its activities and engagements.
As part of efforts to strengthen internal leadership and strategic direction, the association organised a leadership retreat involving executives, ambassadors, and key stakeholders. The retreat, she said, provided an opportunity to define priorities and align goals for the administration.
She emphasized that clarity of purpose is essential for effective leadership and sustainable organisational growth.
Within the period under review, WIMA Nigeria also embarked on several courtesy visits to major maritime institutions and stakeholders to reinforce partnerships and promote collaboration in line with the organisation’s mandate.
The association equally participated in key industry events, including the 2026 International Women’s Day celebration hosted by the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), where it joined other stakeholders in amplifying the contributions of women in the maritime sector.
Reflecting on the experience, Theodora noted that faith, resilience, and collective commitment have played important roles in driving the administration’s activities.
She reiterated that WIMA Nigeria will continue to focus on its core agenda of empowerment, collaboration, innovation, and national visibility, with the aim of positioning women in maritime for greater impact and recognition.
Describing the milestone as a starting point rather than a conclusion, the WIMA Nigeria president expressed optimism about the future of the association and the opportunities ahead for women in the maritime industry.
