LSSTF CEO Ogunsan Commends LNSA’s Community Policing Model During Courtesy Visit in Lagos
The Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, has commended the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA) for its effective community policing model, technological innovation, and grassroots security approach during a high-level courtesy visit to the agency’s headquarters.
Dr. Ogunsan made the commendation on Thursday when he led a delegation from the LSSTF, including the Director of Administration, Mr. Adegbola Lewis, on an official visit to the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA).
The delegation was received by the General Manager of the agency, Dr. Ifalade Oyekan, alongside senior officials and personnel. The visit was marked by ceremonial honours, including a mounted guard parade in honour of the LSSTF boss. Dr. Ogunsan was also decorated with the LNSA Medal of Honour and presented with a commemorative lapel pin in recognition of his contributions to strengthening the state’s security architecture.
As part of the visit, the LSSTF CEO undertook a comprehensive tour of the agency’s operational facilities, where he inspected an array of modern security equipment such as surveillance drones, body-worn cameras, and other advanced tools designed to enhance intelligence gathering and rapid response capabilities.
The Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Agency, established by the Lagos State Government, operates as a community-based security outfit complementing the efforts of conventional law enforcement agencies, particularly the Nigeria Police Force. Its mandate includes grassroots intelligence gathering, routine patrols, crime prevention, and promoting peaceful coexistence within communities.
Personnel of the agency, who are largely recruited from local communities, leverage their familiarity with their environments to identify suspicious activities, mediate disputes, and provide timely intelligence to security authorities.
Speaking after the facility tour, Dr. Ogunsan praised the agency’s performance under the leadership of Dr. Oyekan, noting that its community policing strategy remains a critical component of effective security management.
He stated that the agency’s people-centered approach enhances trust between residents and security operatives, thereby improving intelligence gathering and overall public safety.
Dr. Ogunsan further reaffirmed the commitment of the LSSTF to continue supporting the LNSA and other security agencies in Lagos State, emphasizing that a secure environment is fundamental to economic growth, social stability, and investor confidence.
In his response, Dr. Oyekan expressed appreciation for the sustained support from the LSSTF, describing the partnership as vital to the agency’s operational successes. He reiterated that the LNSA’s neighbourhood-based policing model, anchored on collaboration and local engagement, remains central to its mission of proactive crime prevention.
The visit underscores the deepening collaboration among key security stakeholders in Lagos State, as authorities continue to strengthen intelligence-driven and community-based strategies to tackle emerging security challenges in Nigeria’s commercial hub.
