Minister Commends Orderly, Transparent Police Recruitment Exercise, Lauds Tinubu’s Approval of 50,000 Personnel
Lagos, Nigeria — The Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Gaidam, has commended the ongoing nationwide police recruitment exercise, describing it as orderly, transparent, and crucial to restoring public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force and strengthening national security architecture.
Gaidam gave the commendation while receiving field reports from officers monitoring the exercise across the country, according to a statement by his Special Assistant, Lima Goje, on behalf of the Minister.
He noted that the recruitment process goes beyond routine manpower expansion, stressing that it represents a strategic intervention aimed at rebuilding trust in policing and improving the operational effectiveness of the Force.
According to him, the integrity of the process is as important as the academic and physical qualifications of applicants, adding that discipline, patience, and adherence to due process remain essential expectations for all participants.
“This is more than recruitment; it is a call to national service,” Gaidam said. “Nigeria needs men and women of honor, individuals who understand that security is the foundation upon which development and prosperity are built.”
The Minister also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the recruitment of 50,000 police personnel, describing the decision as bold and strategic in addressing longstanding manpower shortages within the Force.
He added that the administration’s broader security reform agenda is focused not only on increasing personnel strength but also on enhancing training, welfare, and operational capacity to build a more professional and accountable police institution.
Gaidam further stated that the ongoing recruitment exercise reflects a renewed national commitment to security sector reform and institutional strengthening, noting that it symbolizes hope for improved safety, justice delivery, and rule of law across the country.
He urged traditional rulers, community leaders, and other stakeholders to support the process and encourage eligible youths to participate with sincerity and patriotism, emphasizing that the success of the exercise is critical to Nigeria’s collective security future.
