NDLEA Lagos Hosts Multi-Agency Workshop to Boost Collaboration Against Drug Abuse

The Lagos Strategic Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has convened a three-day workshop aimed at enhancing drug use prevention education among security leaders, with a strong emphasis on inter-agency collaboration to combat substance abuse and illicit trafficking.

The workshop, themed “Consolidating Synergy in Drug Control Efforts,” brought together key stakeholders across the security architecture in Lagos, underscoring the urgency of a unified response to the growing menace of drug abuse.

Delivering the welcome address, the Commander of NDLEA Lagos Strategic Command, ACGN AL Wali, described the initiative as a strategic intervention designed to strengthen institutional capacity and promote drug-free workplaces within security agencies. He emphasized that the complexity of drug-related challenges requires sustained collaboration, intelligence sharing, and coordinated action among stakeholders.

According to him, drug abuse poses a significant threat not only to individual health but also to operational efficiency, discipline, and national security. He noted that the workshop would equip participants with the knowledge and practical tools needed to prevent, identify, and manage drug-related issues within their respective organisations.

The event was graced by the First Lady of Lagos State, Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by Mrs Funmi Omotosho, wife of the Lagos State Commissioner for Information. Also in attendance was the Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, Dr Ayo Ogunsan, alongside senior NDLEA officials, including the Zone 8 Commander, ACGN Anietie Nse Inam.

Participants drawn from various security agencies engaged in experience sharing, strategic discussions, and practical sessions aimed at improving coordinated responses to drug control challenges.

Reaffirming the agency’s commitment, Wali stated that the NDLEA Lagos Strategic Command would continue to strengthen partnerships with sister agencies and relevant stakeholders in tackling drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking across the state.

He urged participants to take full advantage of the workshop by actively contributing and applying the knowledge gained to build safer and more productive work environments.

The workshop is expected to produce actionable strategies that will enhance synergy among security agencies and reinforce ongoing efforts to curb drug abuse in Lagos State.
