PSC, Lagos Business School Partner on Capacity Building, Emphasise Global Standards in Police Recruitment
The Police Service Commission (PSC) has initiated a strategic partnership with the Lagos Business School (LBS) to strengthen training and capacity development for its personnel, as PSC Chairman, Hashimu Salihu Argungu, reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to global best practices in police recruitment.
The move followed a courtesy visit by a delegation from LBS, a leading arm of Pan-Atlantic University, aimed at exploring areas of collaboration, particularly in professional training for PSC officials.
Leader of the delegation, Victor Banjo, said the engagement was designed to build synergy between both institutions in capacity development. He commended the PSC’s leadership for restoring credibility to its operations, especially the ongoing recruitment exercise into the Nigeria Police Force.
Banjo noted that the Commission’s renewed focus on ethical standards and sustainability would significantly enhance the quality of recruits entering the police force. He expressed confidence that the reforms being implemented would yield a more professional and accountable policing system.
In his response, PSC Chairman Argungu welcomed the proposed collaboration, describing it as timely and necessary for institutional strengthening. He reiterated the Commission’s resolve to ensure that only qualified and competent Nigerians are recruited into the police force.
“Processes and procedures determine product or output,” Argungu stated, stressing that the ongoing recruitment exercise aligns with internationally accepted standards.
The partnership is expected to deepen institutional capacity within the PSC while reinforcing transparency and professionalism in Nigeria’s police recruitment framework.
