Africa’s leading payment card brand, Verve International, has joined the PCI Security Standards Council and the NEXO Standards Community, a strategic move aimed at enhancing payment security, interoperability, and innovation across its growing network.

Lagos, Nigeria — April 20, 2025 — Verve International has announced its membership of two leading global payment standards organisations, the PCI Security Standards Council and the NEXO Standards Community, as part of efforts to strengthen secure and seamless financial transactions for its cardholders worldwide.

The PCI Security Standards Council is responsible for developing and enforcing security standards that safeguard cardholder data across the payment ecosystem, including banks, merchants, processors, and service providers. Its frameworks are widely regarded as critical in mitigating risks such as fraud, data breaches, and regulatory non-compliance.

By joining the council, Verve is positioning itself to align more closely with globally accepted security benchmarks while contributing African perspectives to ongoing discussions shaping the future of payment data protection.

In addition, Verve’s membership of the NEXO Standards Community underscores its commitment to advancing interoperability in payment systems. NEXO provides modern, standardised messaging protocols that enable seamless communication between banks, processors, and payment terminals, helping to simplify integration and improve transaction efficiency across markets.
