World Creativity Day 2026: NCSP Positions Innovation as Engine for Nigeria–China Economic Growth

The Nigeria–China Strategic Partnership (NCSP) has underscored the critical role of innovation, collaboration, and execution in advancing sustainable development and economic transformation, as the global community marks World Creativity and Innovation Day 2026.

In a statement commemorating the day, themed “Recreating Tomorrow Today,” the Partnership called on stakeholders across both public and private sectors to move beyond conceptual ideas and embrace actionable innovation. It stressed that evolving global challenges require practical solutions, stronger cross-border cooperation, and measurable outcomes.

According to NCSP, the observance highlights the importance of creativity and critical thinking in achieving the United Nations-backed Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in tackling economic inequality, climate change, and promoting inclusive growth. The Partnership noted that its ongoing engagements between Nigeria and China are deliberately structured to translate innovation into tangible results across key sectors, including infrastructure, technology, manufacturing, and the creative economy.

As a bilateral platform, NCSP continues to facilitate knowledge exchange, strengthen investment linkages, and drive the deployment of scalable solutions that enhance Nigeria’s global competitiveness while addressing local development priorities.

Director-General of NCSP, Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe, emphasized the need for innovation to deliver concrete outcomes rather than remain theoretical.

“Creativity must go beyond ideas; it must lead to action. This is how we solve real problems, create opportunities, and shape a better future. At NCSP, we are focused on turning innovative thinking into results that drive economic growth, empower people, and strengthen the partnership between Nigeria and China,” he said.

Tegbe further highlighted the importance of structured collaboration in building sustainable innovation ecosystems, noting that the synergy between Nigerian talent and Chinese technological advancement holds vast potential across sectors.

“Our role is to build bridges where Nigerian ingenuity meets Chinese advancement. By combining these strengths, we unlock transformative opportunities across industries—from infrastructure and manufacturing to the fast-growing creative sector,” he added.

The commemoration also spotlighted the growing significance of the creative economy as a driver of job creation, enterprise development, and cultural exchange. With Nigeria’s large youth population, NCSP said the country is well-positioned to harness innovation-led growth through targeted investments in talent development and entrepreneurship.

The Partnership reaffirmed that its programmes are aligned with these priorities, focusing on empowering innovators, fostering enterprise, and strengthening global partnerships.

As stakeholders worldwide reflect on the future of innovation, NCSP maintained that meaningful progress will depend on the ability of nations and institutions to translate ideas into action and collaboration into lasting impact.
