World Malaria Day 2026: First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Calls for United Action to End Malaria

As Nigeria joins the rest of the world to mark World Malaria Day 2026, the First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, has reiterated the country’s commitment to eradicating malaria and safeguarding public health.

In a message commemorating the day, Senator Tinubu emphasized the importance of collective action in tackling the disease, aligning with this year’s theme, “United Against Malaria.” She noted that sustained collaboration, increased domestic financing, and innovative strategies are critical to overcoming persistent challenges such as drug resistance and unequal access to healthcare services.

The First Lady called for strengthened prevention efforts across all levels, urging stakeholders to expand access to life-saving interventions and essential materials for malaria prevention and treatment, particularly in vulnerable communities.

She further stressed that a unified approach remains key to achieving long-term success in the fight against malaria, expressing optimism that coordinated efforts will ultimately lead to a malaria-free world.

World Malaria Day is observed annually on April 25 to raise awareness and mobilize global action toward the control and elimination of malaria.
