Aroyewun Partners Almubarak Foundation to Boost Entrepreneurship in Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA

The Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, has sealed a strategic partnership with the Almubarak Islamic Foundation to promote entrepreneurship and economic empowerment across the council area.

The initiative integrates the Foundation’s three-day Entrepreneurship Training Programme into the LCDA’s development framework, reflecting the administration’s commitment to equipping residents—particularly clerics and community leaders—with practical, faith-based business skills.

The training, convened by Sheikh Lookman AbdulRasaq Almubarak, held between April 28 and April 30, 2026, focused on enterprise development rooted in Islamic principles, while also promoting peace, unity, and responsible economic participation. The programme is seen as a timely response to rising socio-economic challenges, offering participants structured capacity building and mindset reorientation.

Speaking at the event, Aroyewun described the initiative as a transformative platform designed to inspire self-reliance and community growth.

“This is far more than a capacity-building exercise; it is a movement that equips our people to embrace entrepreneurship, strengthen unity, and build prosperity on a foundation of faith and discipline,” he said.

He urged participants to apply the knowledge gained, stressing the importance of adapting to evolving learning trends.

The chairman also announced the formal integration of the programme into the council’s policy framework under the Learning pillar of the HOA GLORY Agenda—his administration’s blueprint for governance, which prioritises human capital development, skills acquisition, and knowledge advancement.

“By embedding this initiative within our development agenda, we are making a deliberate investment in our people. When individuals are equipped with the right knowledge and tools, they become agents of change within their communities,” he added.

The event attracted notable personalities, including former senator Ganiu Solomon, who served as Special Guest of Honour, underscoring the programme’s significance. Traditional support also came from the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali.

Facilitators at the training included Alhaji Uzamat Kayode Tajudeen, Prof. Bushra Zakiniyah Olalekan of Zakspreneur Academy, Prof. Sheriff Adekoya, Alhaji Gbadamosi, Sheikh Ishaq Falagba, and Mr AbdulRasaq Lateef, all of whom delivered practical sessions on entrepreneurship and enterprise development.

A key contributor to the programme’s success was Prof. Olalekan Bushra Sakariyau, founder of Zakspreneur Academy, whose experience in entrepreneurship development, Islamic finance, and agribusiness—across institutions such as the Central Bank of Nigeria, FUT Minna’s Entrepreneurship Development Centre, and international organisations like the World Bank and GIZ—helped shape the council’s adoption of the initiative.

The LCDA administration called on stakeholders to support the programme as part of broader efforts to promote local enterprise, enhance self-reliance, and build a resilient and prosperous community.
