Benson, Aroyewun Deliver New Classrooms, Modern Toilets to Agunfoye Primary School

Pupils of Salvation Army Primary School, Agunfoye in Igbogbo area of Lagos State have received a major boost in learning infrastructure following the commissioning of a newly constructed block of six fully furnished classrooms and an eight-unit modern toilet facility.

The classroom project was facilitated by Babajimi Adegoke Benson, while the toilet facility was provided by the Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area under the leadership of Executive Chairman, Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun.

The projects were officially commissioned on Thursday as part of efforts aimed at improving educational infrastructure and creating a more conducive learning environment for pupils and teachers in the community.

Residents noted that the school had for years struggled with overcrowded classrooms and inadequate sanitary facilities, a situation they said negatively affected learning and the wellbeing of pupils.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, the Secretary to the Local Government, Alhaji Qudus Oduntan, who represented the council chairman, commended Benson for what he described as his consistent commitment to people-oriented representation across Ikorodu Federal Constituency.

According to him, the council deemed it necessary to complement the classroom project with modern toilet facilities to ensure that pupils learn in a clean, healthy, and dignified environment.

Community stakeholders, traditional rulers, political leaders, parents, teachers, and government officials attended the event, describing the intervention as timely and impactful.

Speaking on behalf of the Agunfoye Elders Council, Alhaja Iyabo Salisu expressed appreciation to both the federal lawmaker and the LCDA administration, noting that the development had restored hope to many families within the community.

Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Hon. Taiwo Orenuga, stressed the importance of continuous investment in education, saying quality infrastructure remains critical to building responsible future leaders.

Also speaking, Deputy Leader of the Legislative House, Hon. Hakeem Sholawon, urged residents to continue supporting responsive leadership while encouraging eligible voters to participate actively in the democratic process through voter registration and Permanent Voter Card collection.

Former Supervisor for Works, Alhaji W.A. Yusuf, linked the project to the broader developmental initiatives of Benson across the constituency, citing interventions in roads, healthcare, education, and community development.

The Baale of Gegenla, Chief Jamiu Abass, who represented High Chief Tajudeen Alade Duduyemi Onasanya, the Odofin of Igbogbo Kingdom, described the intervention as evidence of leadership that responds to the needs of the people.

In his remarks, Education Secretary for Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Alhaji Taiwo Ogunbo, described the project as a significant boost to public primary education and called for sustained collaboration to address infrastructural challenges facing schools in the division.

Council Manager, Mr. Afolabi Babatunde Adeolu, urged residents and school authorities to safeguard and maintain the facilities to ensure their sustainability.

Head Teacher of Salvation Army Primary School, Mr. Esan, expressed gratitude on behalf of the school community, stating that the intervention had brought renewed morale and relief to both pupils and teachers.

The newly commissioned projects are expected to improve teaching and learning conditions while strengthening grassroots educational development within Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA.
