Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA Launches Free Wellness Outreach, Treats Over 1,000 Residents

The administration of the Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, has launched a Free Optimal Wellness Outreach Programme aimed at expanding access to quality healthcare services at the grassroots level.

The medical outreach, held at AUD Primary School in Igbogbo on Saturday, provided free healthcare services to more than 1,000 residents in Zone 1 of the council area as part of the administration’s HOA GLORY Agenda.

Residents received a wide range of medical services including free consultations and treatment, blood pressure and blood sugar checks, Hepatitis B testing, eye examinations, family planning counselling, distribution of prescribed medications, referral services for advanced care, as well as health education and wellness counselling.

A major highlight of the outreach was the provision of free prescription eyeglasses for eligible beneficiaries, alongside medications distributed to residents at no cost.

Many beneficiaries, particularly elderly residents and vulnerable households, described the initiative as timely and impactful, noting that the programme brought much-needed healthcare services closer to the people.

Community leaders and stakeholders also commended the initiative, describing it as a practical intervention targeted at addressing healthcare challenges within local communities.

Speaking during the exercise, Chairman Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun said the health and wellbeing of residents remain a major priority of his administration.

According to him, the outreach programme is designed to ensure that quality healthcare services become accessible to residents regardless of their financial status or location.

He added that the programme would be extended to other zones across the LCDA in the coming weeks as part of the council’s broader healthcare mobilisation strategy.

The council said the initiative aligns with its commitment to inclusive governance, community-based healthcare delivery and improving the quality of life of residents across the LCDA.
