LSSTF Donates Bulletproof Vests, Helmets to Army, Navy, Air Force Formations in Lagos

The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has donated bulletproof vests and ballistic helmets to key military formations in Lagos as part of efforts to strengthen security operations and support frontline personnel across the state.

The Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of LSSTF, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, presented the security equipment during a meeting with military commanders held on Monday at the Fund’s headquarters in Alausa, Ikeja.

The beneficiaries of the donation include the Nigerian Army’s 9 Brigade, the Nigerian Navy’s NNS Beecroft, and the Nigerian Air Force’s 651 Base Services Group.

Each formation received 50 bulletproof vests and 50 ballistic helmets to enhance operational efficiency and personnel safety in the discharge of their duties.

The equipment was formally received by Commander of 9 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ayokunle Olufemi Owolabi; Commander of NNS Beecroft, Commodore Aiwuyor Adams-Aliu; and Commander of 651 Base Services Group, Air Commodore Mohammed Imam.

Speaking during the presentation, Dr. Ogunsan described the military commanders as critical stakeholders in maintaining national peace and security, commending the Nigerian Army, Navy, and Air Force for their sacrifices and commitment to safeguarding lives and property.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the LSSTF to supporting security agencies operating within Lagos State, stressing that the Fund would continue to provide necessary operational support to ensure effective security service delivery.

“Whatever it requires to ensure that Lagos stays safe, we will continue to provide that support accordingly,” he stated.

Dr. Ogunsan also disclosed that the new LSSTF office complex, expected to be completed in October, would further strengthen collaboration between the Fund and security agencies.

According to him, the facility is designed to serve as a strategic operational support centre and a “second office” for the armed forces in Lagos.

He further assured the commanders that operational requests channeled through the Lagos State Security Council and other relevant platforms would continue to receive prompt attention from the Fund.

Responding on behalf of the military formations, Brigadier General Owolabi appreciated the Lagos State Government and the LSSTF for their sustained support to the armed forces.

He described the intervention as timely and impactful, noting that the donated equipment would significantly enhance ongoing security operations across Lagos.

The military commanders also pledged continued collaboration among the Army, Navy, and Air Force to sustain peace, strengthen security operations, and ensure the safety of residents, businesses, and investors in the state.

They commended the LSSTF for its consistent interventions in supporting security agencies, describing the partnership as vital to maintaining stability and public safety in Lagos and beyond.
