LSSTF Strengthens Security Capacity Building in Lagos as Inter-Agency Training Ends with Awards, Certificates
The Lagos State Security Trust Fund has concluded the May 2026 edition of its Statewide Inter-Agency Training Programme for Security Operatives, reinforcing its commitment to improving professionalism, collaboration, and operational efficiency among security agencies across Lagos State.
The two-day intensive training programme ended on Thursday with the presentation of certificates to participants and special recognition awards for officers who demonstrated punctuality and dedication throughout the exercise.
The capacity-building initiative brought together operatives from various law enforcement, paramilitary, emergency management, and safety agencies operating within Lagos State. The programme focused on strengthening ethical standards, emotional intelligence, wellness consciousness, financial management, public diplomacy, and inter-agency collaboration in tackling evolving security challenges.
Speaking at the closing session on behalf of the Executive Secretary/CEO of the LSSTF, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, the Fund’s Director of Administration, Mr. Adegbola Lewis, said the initiative reflects the agency’s long-term commitment to sustainable institutional development rather than one-off interventions.
According to Lewis, modern security operations require intelligence sharing, coordinated responses, and stronger institutional understanding among agencies to sustain public trust and guarantee safer communities.
A major highlight of the programme was a five-module lecture delivered by Dr. Wale Adeagbo, Director of Security Risk Advisory, Consulting and Education at Halogen Group, titled “Enhancing Professional Capacity, Ethical Standards and Inter-Agency Collaboration for Effective Security Operation.”
The training modules addressed ethical standards in security operations, operational leadership, performance management, stakeholder engagement, and collaboration among multiple security agencies within Lagos State.
In his presentation, Adeagbo stressed the need for security institutions to improve professionalism and operational coordination in response to increasingly sophisticated threats facing urban centres.
He noted that modern security management can no longer rely solely on force projection or isolated institutional efforts, but must be driven by accountability, ethical professionalism, emotional intelligence, strategic collaboration, communication, and public trust.
According to him, seamless cooperation among security agencies remains critical to protecting lives, safeguarding infrastructure, and sustaining public confidence in Lagos State.
Addressing concerns about citizens’ experiences with security agencies, Adeagbo urged operatives to adopt a people-centred approach to security operations.
“The first step is to have a clear citizens-focused vision that can be communicated effectively to the community,” he said.
He further advised security personnel to understand and empathise with the challenges faced by residents, create emotional connections with citizens, capture public feedback in real time, utilise performance measurement frameworks, and assess operational outcomes through measurable impact.
At the end of the programme, participants who successfully completed the training received certificates in recognition of their commitment to continuous professional development.
In addition, 10 officers who maintained outstanding punctuality throughout the two-day exercise were rewarded with cash gifts of N50,000 each as part of efforts to encourage discipline and professionalism within the security sector.
The gesture drew commendation from participants, further underscoring the LSSTF’s emphasis on discipline, dedication, and positive institutional culture as vital components of effective security operations in Lagos State.
