The competition intensified on MasterChef Nigeria as contestant Fads exited the kitchen following a dramatic elimination round, while Demilade secured victory and a coveted culinary trip after delivering an outstanding performance.

Tension ran high in the MasterChef Nigeria kitchen this week as ambition met its ultimate test under time pressure, culminating in the elimination of Fads after a demanding challenge judged by Chef Stone and Chef Eros.

Fads and fellow contestant Loye found themselves in the bottom two after their dishes failed to meet the competition’s standards. In the final decision, Fads was asked to leave the show. Reflecting on her performance, Chef Stone remarked that despite having sufficient time, her dish lacked the expected depth and execution.

The episode followed last week’s emotionally charged brief, where contestants cooked meals inspired by influential figures in their lives. This time, however, the spotlight shifted to the judges, who shared personal culinary stories and presented signature dishes rooted in their experiences.

Contestants were then tasked with reinterpreting these dishes within 90 minutes. In a twist, the judges’ meals were randomly assigned. Those who drew Chef Stone’s brief attempted his Pan-African Beef Wellington, while others tackled Chef Eros’ bold trio of Ewa Hummus, Agoyin Chutney, and Agege Flatbread.

Despite early confidence, Fads’ execution faltered at the tasting stage. Her beef and mushroom skewers paired with pistachio crepe were criticised for lacking cohesion, particularly due to the absence of sauces meant to unify the dish.

Loye, who worked on Chef Eros’ concept, described his plate as a “flavour bomb,” but judges concluded it still fell short of expectations.

In contrast, standout performances came from David and Demilade. Demilade emerged as the challenge winner, impressing the judges with her refined interpretation of Chef Eros’ dish. Her dessert—an apple, cranberry, and chinchin crumble—was described as restaurant-quality, earning her a culinary trip to South Africa sponsored by South African Tourism.

David also maintained strong momentum following his previous win, delivering a focused and well-executed dish inspired by Chef Stone’s brief.

With seven contestants remaining, anticipation builds for next week’s episode, where a new challenge and a surprise twist from the judges promise to reshape the competition.
