NDP Elects Hon. Akinola Obadia as Governorship Candidate in Lagos Consensus Primaries Held in Shomolu
The National Democratic Party (NDP) has elected Hon. Akinola Obadia as its governorship candidate in Lagos State following a consensus-driven elective primary held on Thursday in Shomolu, where all party candidates across various levels were affirmed under the supervision of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials.
The National Democratic Party (NDP) on Thursday conducted its All Elective Office Primaries in Shomolu, Lagos State, where candidates for governorship, Senate, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly were unanimously affirmed through a consensus arrangement.
At the conclusion of the exercise, Hon. Akinola Obadia was affirmed as the party’s governorship candidate for Lagos State.
The primaries also produced candidates for the Senate, House of Representatives, and Lagos State House of Assembly ahead of the forthcoming elections.
Speaking on behalf of all senatorial candidates, the Lagos-East Senatorial Candidate, Mr. Godwin Sunday Udoh, appreciated party members and stakeholders for the confidence reposed in the aspirants and pledged commitment to the growth of the party.
Similarly, the Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II House of Representatives candidate, Mazi Ossy Celestine Ohia, delivered the acceptance speech on behalf of House of Representatives candidates, assuring party faithful of dedication and effective representation.
On behalf of the State House of Assembly candidates, the Lagos Mainland Constituency II candidate, Emenyi Abang Edet, thanked delegates and supporters for the peaceful and successful conduct of the primaries.
In his acceptance speech, the governorship candidate, Hon. Akinola Obadia, expressed gratitude to party members for the trust placed in him and other candidates, while promising to work towards positioning the NDP as a formidable political force in Lagos State.
The Southwest Chairman and Leader of the party, Mr. Oladiran Doherty, delivered the vote of thanks on behalf of the national leadership. He urged members not to despise humble beginnings and encouraged them to market the NDP as a credible alternative political party in the state.
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were present to observe and monitor the conduct of the primaries.
