Nestlé Nigeria Hosts ‘Nestlé for Good Summit 2026’ to Drive Nutrition, Sustainable Food Systems

Nestlé Nigeria has convened key stakeholders across government, healthcare, academia, development institutions, civil society, and the private sector at the Nestlé for Good Summit 2026 in Lagos, aimed at advancing collaborative solutions to improve nutrition, strengthen communities, and promote sustainable food systems in Nigeria.

The summit, held amid growing concerns over nutrition, public health, and food security challenges in the country, provided a platform for cross-sector dialogue on scalable and practical interventions capable of delivering lasting impact.

Among dignitaries at the event were the Lagos State Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Folashade Bada Ambrose-Medebem, and the Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi, alongside representatives of development organisations, public health institutions, and industry leaders.

Discussions at the summit focused on improving nutrition across all life stages, strengthening local food systems, enhancing livelihoods, and building resilient communities through partnerships and sustainable practices.

Speaking during the event, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nestlé Nigeria, Wassim Elhusseini, said the summit reflects the company’s commitment to creating shared value through its operations.

According to him, Nestlé’s purpose is centered on unlocking the power of food to improve quality of life for people today and future generations.

“Delivering good food consistently and at scale depends on strong systems across the value chain — from responsible sourcing and manufacturing to distribution, livelihoods, capability development, and environmental sustainability,” he said.

Elhusseini added that the Nestlé for Good initiative represents a more integrated expression of the company’s impact across nutrition, thriving communities, and environmental sustainability.

In her keynote address, Lagos State Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Folashade Bada Ambrose-Medebem, commended Nestlé Nigeria for bringing stakeholders together to address issues critical to public wellbeing and economic growth.

“The conversations we are having today are not only about food. They are about human capital, productivity, public health, economic growth, and ultimately, the future of our society,” she said.

She also stressed the need for stronger collaboration among government agencies, businesses, development institutions, and communities to improve nutrition outcomes nationwide.

Also speaking, Victoria Uwadoka, Corporate Communications, Public Affairs and Sustainability Lead at Nestlé Nigeria, said the summit was designed to showcase how the company’s products, partnerships, sourcing activities, and community investments contribute to healthier lives and more resilient communities.

Patricia Ekaba, Head of Corporate Communications, Public Affairs and Sustainability for Central and West Africa, highlighted the importance of long-term strategies in achieving sustainable development.

“Business growth and social progress are interconnected, and lasting impact comes from creating value for both the business and the communities it serves,” she noted.

A major highlight of the summit was an impact showcase featuring beneficiaries of Nestlé initiatives in women empowerment, youth capability development, dairy development, and environmental sustainability.

Participants also explored how the company’s products and interventions support nutrition, livelihoods, and sustainability across different stages of the food value chain.

The Nestlé for Good Summit 2026 is expected to further deepen partnerships and dialogue among stakeholders as Nigeria continues to address complex nutrition and development challenges.
