PEBEC to Commence Lagos Ports Corridor Clean-Up May 14–15, NARTO Members Warned Against Illegal Parking
The Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) is set to embark on a clean-up exercise across the Lagos ports corridors on Thursday, May 14 and Friday, May 15, 2026, with transport operators and NARTO warned to avoid indiscriminate parking along the affected routes or risk towing and penalties.
The Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) has alerted its members and other stakeholders in the transport and logistics sector over the planned clean-up operation by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) within the Lagos ports corridors.
According to an announcement circulated by the association, the PEBEC clean-up exercise is scheduled to hold between Thursday, May 14 and Friday, May 15, 2026.
NARTO advised truck operators and motorists without official business within the port environment to stay away from the affected corridors during the exercise.
The association further warned that any truck found parked illegally along the roads would be towed, while owners would be required to pay prescribed penalties before recovery.
The notice stated that the directive was communicated by the Director-General of PEBEC during a virtual stakeholders’ meeting held earlier.
The clean-up initiative is expected to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion, and enhance operational efficiency around the Lagos ports access roads, which have long been plagued by gridlock caused largely by indiscriminate parking of trucks and articulated vehicles.
NARTO urged all members to take the information seriously and comply fully with the directives to avoid sanctions.
