SMA Gold Movement Reaffirms Loyalty to APC, Mobilises Support for Tinubu Ahead of 2027

The SMA Gold Movement has reaffirmed its unwavering loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and pledged intensified mobilisation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, as stakeholders gathered for a strategic assembly to consolidate grassroots support and review political direction.

Stakeholders of the SMA Gold Movement convened for a high-level assembly aimed at strengthening internal coordination and reinforcing political commitment within the APC structure.

Addressing attendees, the State Coordinator, Hon. Sobaloju, urged members across all levels not to relent in their efforts, stressing the importance of faith, perseverance, and unity. He reflected on the humble beginnings of the movement, which started with just four individuals and has since grown into a formidable grassroots network.

According to him, the movement’s progress is a testament to collective dedication and shared vision. He maintained that SMA Gold remains firmly rooted in the APC, dismissing any speculation about defection, and reiterated that members are actively mobilising support for President Tinubu’s second-term ambition.

“Only God crowns efforts; man can only endorse,” he stated, adding that the movement is committed to ensuring its contributions are recognised within the party structure.

Sobaloju further highlighted the emergence of Dr. Samuel Mawuyon Ajose as a key political figure, describing him as a leader positioned to deliver electoral victories in Lagos State. He noted that the movement has consistently supported President Tinubu and will continue to play a strategic role ahead of 2027.

Also speaking, former Federal House of Representative member, Rofikat Arinola Onabamiro, affirmed that the group remains aligned with party directives and is not in opposition to the APC leadership. She explained that the movement was originally established to support President Tinubu’s mandate and continues to operate within that framework.

She called on members to intensify grassroots engagement, particularly at the ward level, urging them to canvass support for Dr. Samuel Mawuyon Ajose. She expressed confidence in the political strength of Badagry, claiming the area has the capacity to deliver significant votes for the president.

Onabamiro also revealed that consultations are ongoing, noting that the movement has already achieved substantial penetration across the state. She emphasized that SMA Gold is fully committed to the president’s re-election bid and believes it is time for Badagry to assert its political relevance.

“Whoever emerges from the primaries will have our full support,” she added, insisting that the APC remains the dominant political force in Lagos State.

Speaking with journalists after the event, Dr. Samuel Mawuyon Ajose underscored the importance of the gathering, describing it as a platform to channel the collective demands of the people to all levels of government.

He said the meeting was also designed to reaffirm support for both the SMA structure and President Tinubu ahead of the next election cycle, while cautioning against repeating the strategic missteps of the 2023 elections.

Ajose stressed that the selection of candidates must be based on proven grassroots strength, urging the party to assess aspirants based on their ability to mobilise support across wards.

“The party must identify who can truly deliver votes by observing their engagement on the ground,” he said.

He disclosed that the movement has established a strong presence across Lagos State and is fully prepared for the primaries, pending directives from the president.

Ajose also noted that while the movement supports ongoing government initiatives, it remains committed to reviewing policies and decisions critically before taking positions, ensuring alignment with available resources and national priorities.

He concluded by affirming that SMA Gold is positioned for long-term political relevance, declaring that the movement “has come to stay.”
